Advanced Class
The advanced class warms up

Mr. Frymire was missed this past week in class, but he will return on Sunday for the black belt class. Mr. Rossiaky and Ms. Rossiaky ran classes while Mr. Frymire was away and did a great job working on the basics with students. Testing will approach quickly (approximately 2 months away) and is something all students should begin considering. Students should review their rank requirement s weekly and be checking off what they know and marking requirements which they have questions about or need to learn.

Beginner Class
This week in class students worked on patterns, rolls, and hand releases. Suggested areas of focus for students this week are:
Patterns/fundamental exercises
• Practice all of the patterns/fundamental exercises required for your rank, not just your highest pattern.
• If a specific pattern/fundamental exercises is particularly difficult on that day, spend more time on it and go through step by step.
Review stances
• Know the length and width of all of the stances required for your rank (primarily walking stance, parallel ready stance, and L stance)
• Practice each stance

The Student Oath of TaeKwon-Do
• The Student Oath of TaeKwon-Do is located on page 19 of the student handbook
• Student should memorize The Student Oath of TaeKwon-Do
• Students should know the meaning of The Student Oath of TaeKwon-Do
• Students should practice The Student Oath of TaeKwon-Do inside and outside of the do jang

Advanced/Adult Class
Everyone in class this week who was recently promoted was able to work on their new pattern in class. Series hand techniques were highlighted this week, and several students struggled to recall them. Remember, memorization drills are not meant to only be used at testing, and should be practiced on a regular basis. Drills such as series hand techniques can be helpful when sparring and help prepare you to throw multiple techniques at a time. Suggested areas of focus for students this week are:
Fundamental Exercises/patterns
• Know the meaning, diagram, and number of movements for each pattern required for your rank
• Know the purpose of each and every technique
• If a specific pattern/fundamental exercises is particularly difficult on that day, spend more time on it and go through step by step.
Initial Moves
• Look up requirements for your rank
• Practice/memorize initial moves required for your rank
• Know the striking tool of each technique and what the target is
Belt Meanings
• Look up the belt meanings in the student hand book
• Know the meaning of each belt (memorize these)
